Some things you might like to know about staying in the Refuge.

While you are staying in the Refuge your Mum will still be cooking your meals.

You will share a bedroom with your Mum and brothers or sisters if you have any.

Your Mum will still be able to read you your bedtime stories, colour with you and play with you.

Sometimes other children and their Mums come to stay in the Refuge. You will be able to make new friends with the other children.
There are lots of toys for you to play with. Books for you to read and video's to watch. You will find colouring pencils for drawing as well.

If you are older there are games and videos for you to play and watch as well.

You may at times feel angry and upset about being in the refuge. It is OK to feel like this, but try and talk to your Mum about how you are feeling. Sometimes it is difficult to talk to your Mum, this is not unusual and because we know how difficult this can be you can always arrange to talk to one of the workers. They are there to help you as well. Everything you say to them will be confidential, they will not tell your Mum, unless you give them permission to, or if something you have told the workers is going to hurt you in any way.
